Chairman Letter

October 5, 2021

Dear Valued Customers and Business Partners

TAKARA BELMONT celebrates its 100th anniversary on October 5, 2021. It is because of all the parties involved in the hairdressing and beauty industry, dental and medical industry—including our customers, distributors and business partners in the world—that we can celebrate this milestone. We extend our sincere gratitude to everyone who has used our products and felt in
tune with our spirit of manufacturing, while walking together with us and showing us what improvements are needed.

Our company started its business as a foundry 100 years ago in an industrial area along the Kizu River in Nishinari, Osaka. Ten years later, we changed our main business line from the manufacture of cast parts for daily essentials such as clay charcoal stoves to the manufacture of barber chairs. This bold challenge led to build and strengthen the foundation of our current

While we faced changing times and suffered from many natural disasters, we joined forces with our group companies to expand our business under the motto of “Supporting the beauty and health of people” and have grown into a company that sells its products not only in Japan, but also in more than 120 countries around the world.

Today, the world has changed drastically due to the coronavirus pandemic. While many industries are making a digital shift, not all operations can be handled online in the hairdressing & beauty industry and the dental and medical industry. These are industries where physical contact is the reality of the professional workplace. In this difficult age where there is no one correct answer, we realized anew that our mission is to pursue how we can support the real, touchable workplace. Nothing can replace the warmth that is produced by human touch. We will make every effort to continue to uphold this most important, enduring value and be a partner who creates the future together with professionals in the hairdressing & beauty, dental and medical industries.

As a manufacturing company in an industry that supports people’s lives, we launched a new project to realize a sustainable society. While aiming to achieve zero waste in our business, we will also focus on providing manufacturing education to children and contributing to the community that has helped us grow.

It is a universal value to live and enjoy a beautiful life. We will continue our business and social contribution activities over the next 100 years toward a better tomorrow and the realization of a beautiful life for our customers, partners, and everyone in society.

Men’s Month – Tips, Tricks, and Trends for your Barbershop

Did you know that June is International Men’s Month? #TeamTakara wants to celebrate with our barber community! Men’s grooming services are on the rise. The collective male mentality has shifted from quick and convenient self care to a more maintained lifestyle. Taking pride in appearances has led to an exciting bespoke barbering boom. But how can barbershop owners capitalize on this growth? Below are some men’s grooming trends to keep an eye on for barbers and clients alike.

Defining the concept: For clients, investing in themselves starts with investing in their barber and self care services. Your guests are more willing to buy into luxury treatments than they have been in the past, but that loyalty is also earned. Provide customers something to connect with by defining your shop branding. The more connected they feel to your business and story, the more likely they will invest. A great example of this is Truman’s Gentlemen’s Groomers in NYC. With a clear shop vibe and value, Truman’s has elevated the standard of the modern barbershop. Connect with Takara Belmont’s team of design experts to take your shop game to the next level.

Pro Tip: Not sure what tunes to play at your new business? Get started with our men’s grooming playlist on Spotify.

Extended services: With men’s grooming making a valiant return to quality over convenience, barbers are better able to communicate the value of a full men’s grooming experience. Extended shaves, massages, waxing, facials, and other luxury services are being widely recognized for their value. Not only do they give men a more complete, relaxing appointment, but they also improve men’s health and overall well-being. However, extended services mean more time in the chair for clients and a heavier workload for barbers. Be sure to invest in a high-quality chair that creates the best possible circumstances for you and your guest. Takara Belmont’s Legend Chair is ideal for services of any length, sporting an adjustable neck rest, preset options, nearly full reclining capabilities, and smooth shock-absorption technology. This keeps clients comfortable, safe, and stable while providing barbers easy access to guests from any vantage point.

Expand your retail: Once clients have already bought into the experience, barbers can build trust with their clients by showing them how to maintain their look after they leave the shop. Recommending the proper products and having them readily available in store can help keep the relationship going post-cut. When clients use the products or need to refill, you will be the first thing on their mind. Also, by taking a moment to educate them on how to recreate their look, you’ve given them something sustainable that they can incorporate into their daily lives. Barbers can make more money in the process, build relationships with product manufacturers, and open up a new avenue for your customers.

Advantages Not To Be “Mist” During Hair Processing

Spa Mist II Yume Head Spa Treatment

They say that true beauty is on the inside, and never is that more true than with hair.  Great looking hair is healthy hair, and that means maintaining its condition from root to tip.  Hair processing has come a long way in this regard, with the industry focusing on hair health alongside beneficial results.

Mist is often mislabeled as steam, but the differences are tremendous when it comes to client health and effective treatments. Steam is essentially the conversion of water at an extremely high temperature, whereas mist is ultrasonically created at a lower temperature. In this blog, we’ll examine the benefits of using mist in hair processing, and why Takara Belmont opts to use it in their products instead of steam.

1) Mist opens up pores with the same capability as steam while doing less damage: In order for treatment to be absorbed into hair, it’s crucial that the follicle is open and receptive. Gently heating the hair is the most effective way to help treatments penetrate the follicle and sustain results. This aspect of heat is why steam and mist are so imperative to the treatment process. However, mist edges out steam as it elects to deliver higher quality results at a lower temperature to avoid unnecessary heat damage.

2) Mist gets the job done: Once the follicle is open, it’s time for the magic to happen! Treatments are then able to penetrate the follicle with ease since it was properly primed. Mist has already created a better environment than steam by doing less damage in step #1. Damaged hair does not receive treatment as well, so this is crucial for repairing and restoring hair to optimal health. A great example of this is Takara Belmont’s YUME Head Spa. Mist allows such control over the process that your clients will notice a healthier scalp and hair in just one session.

3) Cooling mist makes treatments more effective: The temperature control of mist is an undeniable advantage over steam, allowing for a cooling stage of the process (whereas steam does not). By using a cooling mist, the hair follicle seals itself shut, locking in treatments for longer-lasting benefits. Additionally, cooling mist gives a revitalizing sensation to your client’s scalp, enhancing a spa-like experience. Because temperature is declining, hair and scalp health remain intact. Steam lacks temperature control, making results uncertain and is potentially damaging your clients’ hair and scalp.

Overall, mist gives your clients a better value for their dollar and you better customer retention.
